So Which Is It: City or Country?

9.03.2012

Guys. I just can't decide. Do I like...
The City
...or the Country
I'm wading in a pool of self-doubt here people. I was always convinced that I loved the country more than the city. I wanted to live in an old house on a lot of land that Colbs could frolic and play around on without getting hit by a car. Yes, a lot of my dreams are modeled around what is best for my child dog.
But ever since I lived in Charleston and then moved away from Charleston, I find myself longing for city-esque things. I loved being able to walk almost anywhere, or riding my bike to work, or having my favorite coffee shop a couple blocks away, or having awesome farmer's markets and grocery stores, or having music venues pretty much everywhere you turn, or delicious bakeries.
I'll stop there, but I could keep going. Like forever (picture Star Wars scrolls that are never ending). This is not to say that I am abandoning my love for mountains. I'm pretty sure my soul would give a tiny squeal, wither away, and die.  No... I just want a city in/near the mountains. And I am so ready. Rion and I went back to Charleston this weekend for a wedding, which made me almost explode for my want of a city, Rion too.
Y'all, it's almost time for me to say goodbye to my little mountain town life and I couldn't be more ready.

I'm a fan of quaint towns like New Hope, PA, where I can stroll the shops and coffee houses, but not live in a concrete jungle. I feel like small towns are the best of both worlds.

Hmm, maybe a smaller city? That way you still have your coffeeshops and all, and you're not completely secluded from nature either. :)

I go back and forth on this debate SO often. I still think I love the country--just the freeness of it all ya know? But there IS something magical and mystical about the city.
Here's an idea: the country that's 10 minutes from the city. There ya go! ha

I do love both ... but mostly I love smallish towns. A nice mix of both is so wonderful

Okay... get ready for tomorrow's 5 things because I am currently feeling the exact. same. way. For reals. I need urban. And I need mountains. And they don't usually exist together. Nope. Waaah wahhhh

I go back and forth between the two so much...some days I want to go pitch a tent and live like a hermit on top of Mt. Sneffels and other days I want a studio with a walkability score of 99 in the heart of Denver. Indecisiveness is a terrible thing.

I have the same problem! I always considered myself a country girl, but I feel like I would miss the city some... Good luck with your decision!

I love the country... just to visit though. My vote is for the city! We're way too young to be too quiet... we need cars, motorcycles, ambulances.. all of it!

I'm with ya on the debate. I suppose I'm more of a suburb girl? I really dream of not having to drive to get everywhere I need to go, but having a back yard for our dogs (and the ability to have chickens!) is perfect.
