Rainy Days in Munich

1.27.2013

Note the old German man staring right at me. No shame.
What do you do on a rainy day in Munich?
See old, ornate buildings? Sure. Tour ancient churches and stroll through German markets. Yea, I guess. But once you get that mandatory checklist completed you head straight for the beer. Come on guys, it's Munich, you knew I would bring this up.
Besides hosting this little beer festival called Oktoberfest (maybe you've heard of it), Munich is home to some great breweries and brew halls. Hofbrauhaus is one of Germany's oldest and most famous beer halls and of course we nearly sprinted there. As we were walking through the heavy doors into this grand building brimming with history, we were nearly trampled to death by all the eager beer drinkers. German people don't mess. After 20 minutes of being tossed around and having tables stolen right out from under us, we slunked out into the street without even having a beer. It was tragic, really.
With tears in my eyes, I turn around to see this glowing, holy light, and I could've sworn I heard the quiet music of angels singing. We stumbled right upon Augustiner's brewpub. After that the night was a total success with many a beer and pretzel had.
We left full, slightly tipsy, and completely and utterly content.
Thanks Munich.

DYING RIGHT NOW. Many of our days in Munich were dreary and rainy and we spent them the same way. Same pictures! I LOVE Munich. Looks like you had plenty of fun times :)
